8th Congress of the ERC

The 8th Scientific Congress of the European Resuscitation Council (ERC) in Stavanger (Norway), from May 11th to May 13th 2006, was a great success. The Norwegian Resuscitation Council hosted more than 2,100 participants from 53 nations from all over the world.

Presentations were conducted describing the new ERC guidelines 2005 and how the process was reviewed. They appealed to all of the participants. The interactive presentations on the new guidelines enabled delegates to have discussions on: BLS/AED, ALS and defibrillation, pediatrics and neonates, Acute Coronary Syndrome and education.

Other topics were presented including: Therapeutic, Hypothermia, Quality Improvement in CPR, Ethics, In-Hospital Resuscitation, Medical Emergency Team, Emergency Cardiac Care, Trauma… Abstracts of the congress presentations are available in Resuscitation Volume 69, issue 1, April 2006, ISSN 0300-9572 and on the ERC website www.erc.edu this congress gave to all delegates the inspiration to enforce the crucial work of saving more of the 700,000 European people suffering from sudden cardiac arrest every year.
