Informative meeting

Published on 01/03/2004

A little more than three years ago, the French Red Cross gathered its 3000 trainers in Paris; on the 12th, 13th and 14th of March 2004, the experience was repeated but on a lesser scale: this time the meeting concerned the teachers of instructors (trainers of trainers), doctors and the regional heads of first-aid and emergency services (around 500 persons in total). This meeting was organized to present to all participants the future developments of the training of First Aid team members at the national level. Indeed, after having focused on developing the training for the general public, the year 2004 will be the start of the update of the training of First Aid team members. In this field, 3 levels are defined : two concern the training of First Aid team members and one is dedicated to the training of the team leader. The teaching methods used and the technical guidelines are in accordance with the European guidelines and take into account the European Resuscitation Council recommendations regarding advanced cardiac life-support for non-medical personnel.Beyond the technical aspect, these days allowed to mobilize the instructors and heads on the French Red Cross training aims. This kind of meetings offers also an opportunity to motivate these volunteers who are strongly involved at a local and at a regional level and to express the solidarity of everybody in respect of the Movement principles.
