Meeting of the First Aid European Network

Published on 15/10/2004

From the 14th to the 16th October 2004, the annual meeting of the First Aid Education European Network was hosted by the German Red Cross: there were more than 60 delegates, coming from 35 Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies, the international Federation, the Red Cross/European Union office, the Psychological Support European Network, the European Reference Centre for First Aid Education.

Each year, this meeting permits the national first-aid managers of all Europe to share, to debate, to define ways of cooperation; it represents a privileged moment to decide together how to achieve common goals and to take advantage of the experiences of each one to obtain his/her own objectives.

For the 2004 edition, key subjects were introduced such as the Automated External Defibrillation, the European First Aid Certificate, the World First Aid Day… Moreover, several National Societies presented programmes that were implemented in their country: First Aid for vulnerable, domestic accidents… Furthermore, the delegates could attend four workshops on the website dedicated to first-aid, the creation of a European manual, psychological support, the implementation of marketing

The consensus of the majority was very positive: ‘For numerous topics, this meeting allows me to take the right direction within my National Society and to know the last developments in first-aid education field.’ ‘Thanks to these meetings, we are building a solid Network throughout Europe, which allows Red Cross/Red Crescent National Societies to be stronger on the national level.
